Tremellales Tremellales are jelly-like fungi often found on dead branches and decaying wood, especially after rain. Many species are parasites of other fungi living within the wood, rather than directly decomposing the wood themselves. Auriculariales Auriculariales include the familiar wood ear mushrooms, which are rubbery to gelatinous and often ear-shaped. They typically grow on dead or dying hardwoods and act primarily as decomposers, breaking down wood and returning nutrients to the forest ecosystem.
